WASHINGTON October 2, 2026 — The United States has removed Syria from its blanket arms-export denial list, according to BRICS News, allowing weapons requests involving the country to be reviewed case by case rather than rejected under a blanket ban.
BRICS News reported the development in a post on X, saying Washington had taken Syria off the list that had blocked arms-export consideration outright.
Under the change described by BRICS News, Syrian-related weapons requests would no longer face an automatic denial on that blanket basis, and instead would be assessed individually.
Further official detail on timing, the scope of eligible transfers, or accompanying conditions was not included in the BRICS News report.
