SEPANG, May 23 – Thailand’s Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa arrived in Malaysia last night t for the 46th ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings, kicking off yesterday.

His flight, alongside Laos’ Foreign Minister Thongsavanh Phomvihane, landed at Kuala Lumpur International Airport around 8:30 pm. Singapore’s Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan and Indonesia’s Sugiono are expected to arrive tomorrow.
The summit, set for May 26-27 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, will also host the second ASEAN-GCC Summit and the first ASEAN-GCC-China Summit.
Leaders from ASEAN nations will tackle regional challenges and shape future cooperation. China’s Premier Li Qiang is slated to attend the ASEAN-GCC-China Summit. Themed “Inclusivity and Sustainability,” this marks Malaysia’s fifth ASEAN chairmanship, following 1977, 1997, 2005, and 2015.
