KAJANG, Aug 19 2026 (Bernama) – She began with gold and ended with gold.
Terengganu silat exponent Nor Ainun Mokhtar capped her final Malaysia Games (SUKMA) appearance in style by successfully defending the women’s Class E 65-70kg title she won two years ago.
In today’s final at Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), the 21-year-old dominated Kelantan’s Nik Nurul Kamilia Atika Nik Mohd Iruan from the opening round before winning by referee stoppage while leading 33-3.
A referee stoppage is called when the points gap between two competitors exceeds 30.
Nor Ainun, a national silat exponent, said retaining the title was far from easy as she had been struggling with shoulder injuries since the opening round.
“This time was a little more difficult because I had injuries to both shoulders, but I managed them well.
“I’m grateful to win my second gold after getting my first in Sarawak,” she said after the match.
Nor Ainun will now turn her attention to the World Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, in December and the 2027 SEA Games in Malaysia.
“I didn’t compete at the SEA Games in Thailand because my event wasn’t contested. So I hope to win gold at next year’s SEA Games,” she said.
