KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 — A total of RM2.24 million has been allocated for maintenance and upgrading works at the People’s Housing Programme (PPR) Wangsa Sari, Wangsa Maju, benefiting about 1,061 residents.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh said the allocation covers building repainting, replacement of main electrical cables, road resurfacing and upgrading of the fire safety system.

She said this during a site visit with Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri TPr Fadlun Mak Ujud to PPR Wangsa Sari today to inspect the implementation of Kuala Lumpur City Hall’s (DBKL) Public Housing Maintenance Programme and improvements to community facilities.
Of the RM2.24 million allocation, RM1.10 million is for building repainting works, RM904,000 for the replacement of the Sub-Main Cable and Main Switch Board, RM136,000 for road surfacing works and RM101,000 for upgrading the fire safety system.
Built in 2008, PPR Wangsa Sari comprises a 21-storey block with 272 residential units, including 173 units for sale and 99 rental units.

Meanwhile, DBKL is also implementing a new bridge construction project across the Sungai Bonus reserve to PPR Wangsa Sari at an estimated cost of RM200,000.
The 18-metre-long and two-metre-wide bridge is expected to benefit all 1,061 residents by providing safer and easier access, particularly to Padang Wangsa Sari.
The project, scheduled to be carried out from October to December 2026, is also expected to reduce safety risks along Jalan 2/27A and encourage greater use of the recreational area for leisure activities and social interaction.

The maintenance and upgrading works are aimed at improving the physical condition of the building, strengthening safety measures and enhancing basic facilities and the residential environment.
DBKL said the projects reflected its commitment to ensuring public housing provides more than accommodation, with a safe and comfortable environment that supports community well-being.
DBKL will continue to intensify maintenance and upgrading efforts for public housing through projects that directly benefit city residents.
