KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 19 2026 — Two vehicles bearing the Malaysian Prison Department logo were seen entering the compound of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s residence in Langgak Duta here this morning.
A check at the scene found several officers from the department inspecting the area around the residence for about 15 minutes before returning into the premises.
The vehicles arrived at about 9.40 am. The purpose of the visit has not been confirmed.
Attempts by reporters to obtain a detailed explanation were unsuccessful. Najib’s special officer, Ahmad Lutfi Azhar, declined to comment when met outside the residence.
The house has been the focus of media attention since yesterday, with journalists camped outside to follow developments after the announcement of a conditional pardon for Najib.
On Friday, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, consented to a conditional pardon allowing Najib to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest until Aug 23, 2028, subject to payment of a RM50 million fine.
The Legal Affairs Division (BHEUU) of the Prime Minister’s Department said the order was decided at the 64th meeting of the Pardons Board for the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya, held at Istana Negara.
The former Pekan member of parliament has been serving his sentence at Kajang Prison since Aug 23, 2022, after being convicted of misappropriating RM42 million belonging to SRC International Sdn Bhd.
