WASHINGTON D.C April 16, 2026 – President Donald J. Trump announced Thursday that Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a 10-day ceasefire, set to begin at 5 p.m. EST today.
In a statement shared by the White House on X, Trump described the development as the result of “excellent conversations” with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The two leaders “have agreed that in order to achieve PEACE between their Countries, they will formally begin a 10 Day CEASEFIRE at 5 P.M. EST,” the President stated.
Trump noted that Israeli and Lebanese officials held their first direct meeting in Washington, D.C., in 34 years on Tuesday, facilitated by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. He has directed Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Rubio, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan “Razin” Caine to work with both nations toward a lasting peace agreement.
“It has been my Honor to solve 9 Wars across the World, and this will be my 10th, so let’s, GET IT DONE!” Trump declared.
The ceasefire announcement comes amid the ongoing Israel-Hezbollah conflict in Lebanon that escalated earlier this year. Official confirmation from Israeli and Lebanese governments was not immediately detailed in the White House post, and the situation remains fluid.
This is a developing story. Life News Agency will continue to monitor reactions from both sides and provide updates as more details emerge.
