PUTRAJAYA April 24, 2026 — Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming has criticised the opposition PAS for organising a large-scale motorcycle convoy event in Kelantan, describing it as an unnecessary waste of fuel and energy at a time when the world is grappling with a global energy crisis.
In a post on X today, Nga questioned the decision to hold the “Konvoi & Lepak Mat Motor Bersama YB YB” gathering, which is scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, April 25, 2026.
“While the world is facing a global energy crisis and everyone is busy taking steps to save energy, including targeted subsidies, in Malaysia the opposition is trying to fool the people with a convoy that is clearly a waste,” he wrote.
“Biar miskin harta, jangan miskin minda! Jangan jadi macam PAS,” he added. (Even if poor in wealth, don’t be poor in mind! Don’t be like PAS.)
The event is jointly organised by Kelab Penyokong Kerajaan (BBC) and Dewan Pemuda PAS Negeri Kelantan. According to the event poster, the programme begins with Asar prayers at Masjid Muhammadi at 4:00 pm, followed by a motorcycle convoy starting from Kota Lama. The procession will pass through the Kota Bharu Airport area, the city centre, and the area behind AEON Mall. Speeches by the BBC president and several assemblymen (YB) are planned, with the event concluding at 7:00 pm.
Nga’s remarks come as Malaysia continues to implement targeted fuel subsidies to manage rising costs caused by ongoing conflicts in the Middle East. The government has repeatedly urged the public to practise energy conservation amid high global oil prices.
PAS has not issued an official response to the minister’s criticism at the time of writing.
The convoy is seen by observers as part of PAS’s grassroots mobilisation efforts in its Kelantan stronghold.
