PUTRAJAYA April 20, 2026 – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim today received the Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL), His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Abdul Karim Al-Essa, who is also Chairman of the Muslim Scholars Association, along with his delegation.
The meeting took place as part of Sheikh Dr. Al-Essa’s two-day working visit to Malaysia.
In a statement posted on his official X account, Prime Minister Anwar expressed gratitude, saying “Alhamdulillah” for the opportunity to host the high-level delegation.
During the brief but meaningful discussion, both leaders addressed key international issues, with particular focus on supporting Muslim communities worldwide that are facing war, oppression and injustice.
Sheikh Dr. Al-Essa also confirmed the Muslim World League’s readiness to organise the International Conference of Religious Leaders and Scholars (Muktamar Agamawan dan Cendekiawan Pelbagai Agama Seluruh Dunia) scheduled for 12 June 2026 in Kuala Lumpur.
Prime Minister Anwar concluded his remarks with a prayer for the continued success of the Muslim World League’s noble efforts in serving Islam, Muslim communities and humanity at large.
The meeting underscores Malaysia’s active role in promoting interfaith dialogue and global solidarity with Muslim communities facing hardship.
This visit highlights the strengthening ties between Malaysia and the Muslim World League in advancing peace, justice and religious cooperation on the global stage.
