PUTRAJAYA, January 20, 2026 – The Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Mohammed Taufiq Johari, has welcomed the launch of the National Education Plan (RPN) 2026–2035 by Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, describing it as a pivotal move to fortify Malaysia’s education ecosystem and nurture a generation of resilient, high-quality youth.
In a statement released today, Dr. Taufiq emphasized that the RPN extends beyond mere academic excellence, placing equal importance on character development, values, soft skills, leadership, and personal resilience. “A robust education system is the cornerstone for developing balanced, competitive youth who can contribute meaningfully to society and the nation,” he stated.
The plan aligns closely with the aspirations of today’s young people, focusing on talent cultivation, future-ready skills, mastery of digital technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), innovation, and lifelong learning. Dr. Taufiq expressed confidence that these elements will equip the younger generation with critical thinking abilities, adaptability, and the boldness to seize new opportunities amid evolving economic and social landscapes.
Highlighting the need for inter-ministerial synergy, the Minister called for enhanced collaboration between the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), the Ministry of Education (KPM), and the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT). This partnership aims to ensure seamless youth development from formal education into phases of skills training, leadership development, volunteerism, entrepreneurship, and job market readiness.
Dr. Taufiq underscored that the successful implementation of the RPN demands collective commitment from all stakeholders, including the government, educators, parents, educational institutions, civil society, and the youth themselves. “This plan will serve as a solid foundation in shaping Malaysian youth who are of high quality, resilient, and prepared to lead the country toward a more sustainable, progressive, and prosperous future,” he concluded.
The launch comes at a time when Malaysia is prioritizing human capital development to meet global challenges, with the RPN poised to play a central role in building a forward-thinking workforce.
