RIO DEJANEIRO, July 6, 2025 – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim today received a courtesy visit from Dilma Rousseff, the former President of Brazil and current President of the New Development Bank (NDB). Congratulating Rousseff on her re-election, Anwar expressed Malaysia’s openness to exploring collaboration with the NDB, focusing on sustainable development, infrastructure financing, and strengthening South-South cooperation.

The NDB, established by developing nations, offers competitive financing alternatives that align with Malaysia’s goals of diversifying infrastructure funding sources and accelerating the transition to a green economy. Anwar noted that Malaysia would thoroughly evaluate potential NDB membership, considering commitments and the effectiveness of participation.
The discussions underscore Malaysia’s commitment to global partnerships and sustainable growth, with the NDB positioned as a key player in supporting these ambitions.
