KUALA LUMPUR Oct 3, 2026 — Malaysia’s 2030 ambition is to become an AI Nation that creates, not just consumes, technology, Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo said today, adding that the national AI architecture is already in place.
Speaking at the Youth Economic Forum (YEF) 2026 Ministerial Panel, Gobind said the building blocks range from AI Malaysia Berhad and the National AI Action Plan 2026–2030 to supporting initiatives including the Malaysia Digital Action Plan 2030, AI@Work, Rakyat Digital, MyGOV, MyGDX, MY-AI Standards and the Malaysia AI Safety Institute.
“These efforts will help us move beyond Generative AI towards Agentic and Physical AI, delivering better jobs, stronger businesses, more efficient public services and a better quality of life as tangible measures of success,” he said in a statement posted on his official X account.
He called on more than 3,000 young leaders at the forum to build strong fundamentals, embrace continuous learning and curiosity, and keep upgrading themselves by making AI part of their toolkit.
Platforms such as YEF are important in nurturing the next generation of leaders, he added, giving young Malaysians space to learn, exchange ideas and build the confidence to embrace and lead in the AI age.
The remarks were shared in Malay and English posts on X by Gobind Singh Deo.
