KANGAR Sept 9, 2026 – Kangar Bersatu division deputy chief Faisol Rahman, the division committee, Armada/Srikandi/Srikandi Muda leadership (including Armada Kangar deputy chief Mohd Firdaus Ismail), and 90 of the division’s 99 branch chiefs announced they are leaving Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia immediately. They will join Parti Wawasan Negara, led by Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.
The move does not include any Bersatu MPs or state assemblymen in the division. Perlis Menteri Besar Abu Bakar Hamzah’s Hujong Tanjung branch remains with Bersatu.
Faisol said the decision followed “careful deliberation” after grassroots members lost faith in the central leadership. He cited misalignment on party direction, organisational management, and leadership style after years of building the party at branch level. “When that trust erodes, it is time to take a clear stand,” he told a press conference in Kuala Perlis on 9 September.
This comes a day after Padang Besar Bersatu deputy chief Ramzi Md Udi and 19 others (including 14 of 24 branch chiefs) also quit for Wawasan.
Newly appointed Perlis Bersatu chief Izizam Ibrahim called the resignations a positive “cleansing.” He said a division is not dissolved by vacancies; a new organising committee will be formed.
