TEHRAN October 4, 2026 — Iran says the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until the United States meets all seven conditions of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) the two sides signed, according to BRICS News.
In a report posted on X on Sunday, BRICS News said Tehran linked any reopening of the vital waterway to full US compliance with the MoU’s seven conditions. The report did not list those conditions.
The Strait of Hormuz is a critical shipping route for global oil and energy traffic. Iran’s position, as carried by BRICS News, frames the closure as contingent on Washington fulfilling every term of the signed MoU.
BRICS News attributed the development to Iranian statements and shared it as a “JUST IN” update. No further official detail on the MoU text or a timeline for US action was included in the post.
