KOTA KINABALU, May 5, 2026 – Sabah’s Deputy Chief Minister III, Datuk Ewon Benedick, will lead a high-level Sabah delegation on an official working visit and trade mission to China from today until May 11.
Ewon, who also serves as Minister of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport (MINDET), is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech at the Dalian–Sabah Investment and Trade Forum.
During the forum, he is expected to witness the signing of five Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and the exchange of Letters of Intent between Sabah and Dalian.

According to an official statement, Ewon will also hold meetings with all stakeholders and industry players involved in the MoUs to discuss follow-up implementation of the partnerships.
He will further chair official bilateral discussions between the Sabah delegation and the Dalian municipal government to strengthen two-way economic cooperation and investment ties.
As part of the visit, Ewon is also set to attend an industry networking session organised by the Dalian Federation of Industry and Commerce in collaboration with the Malaysia–China Chamber of Commerce Sabah.
In Beijing, he will pay a courtesy call on the Malaysian Ambassador and hold discussions with the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) to explore strategic investment opportunities for Sabah.
The delegation includes senior officials from several state agencies, among them the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation Sabah, SMJ Secretariat, State Economic Planning Unit, SEDCO, JETAMA, Invest Sabah, Sabah Ports Authority and Universiti Malaysia Sabah.
The mission is expected to unlock new trade and investment avenues for Sabah in China’s rapidly expanding market.
