DAMANSARA, Oct 6 2026 — The Indian community is prepared to help drive Malaysia’s ambition to become an AI Nation by 2030, Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo said after an advanced-level AI programme held in his constituency.
The programme, organised under Rakyat Madani MITRA in cooperation with the Damansara parliamentary office, was cited by the minister as evidence that community members are equipping themselves with skills for the digital economy. Photographs from the session showed participants at laptops in a training hall and a group of attendees posing with certificates.
Gobind, who is also national chairman of DAP and MP for Damansara, listed three other government allocations aimed at the Indian community:
- RM13.2 million under the 2026 MADANI Device Assistance Programme for learning equipment for children.
- RM5.3 million for ICT equipment, including smart boards, for Tamil national-type schools (SJKT) in 2026.
- RM25 million under the 2026 Uyarvu MADANI startup accelerator grant programme for B40 and M40 entrepreneurs.
He said the government would continue to provide facilities, resources and support, and urged the public to come forward and make use of them. “Keep learning, share knowledge and think progressively. The digital future of this country lies in all our hands to build and succeed together,” he wrote.
The post carried the hashtags #AINation, #SJKT and #MITRA. MITRA is the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit, which channels socio-economic programmes for the community under the Madani government. Malaysia’s stated AI Nation target calls for the digital economy to contribute 30 per cent of GDP by 2030.
