Formula 1 is preparing a standing restart under wet conditions at the Bahrain Grand Prix weekend at Sepang, with teams split between intermediate and slick tyres as the Safety Car remains on track.
Official Formula 1 updates from @F1 showed Mercedes junior Andrea Kimi Antonelli almost ready in the garage ahead of the restart, while Max Verstappen and Antonelli were reported on intermediates and both Ferraris on slicks as cars headed out.
The Safety Car was confirmed on circuit with a standing start expected within moments. Most drivers lined up on the grid, though some went straight to the pits to change tyres before the lights.
The mixed tyre calls underline how changeable the Sepang surface remains during this wet Bahrain Grand Prix session, with teams gambling on intermediates for grip in damp patches or slicks if a dry line emerges quickly.
