KUALA LUMPUR, May 4, 2026 — Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo expressed deep sadness over the tragic fire that killed a 53-year-old disabled man and destroyed five single-storey terrace houses in Taman Ehsan, Kepong on April 30.
The fire broke out in the early hours along Jalan E5/11. Selangor Fire and Rescue Department received the emergency call at 2:31am, with the first fire engine arriving about 19 minutes later. The blaze involved five Class A terrace houses (each measuring 20 x 60 feet), causing damage ranging from 20% to 100%. Firefighters brought it under control at 3:42am. At 4:29am, the victim — a paralysed man — was found charred on a bed inside one of the bedrooms and was confirmed dead at the scene.
Gobind — who is also the Member of Parliament for P106 Damansara — visited the affected families alongside Dato’ Haji Mohd Khidir Bin Majid, Director of the Selangor Implementation Coordination Unit (JPM) yesterday, to offer condolences.
“As the MP for P106 Damansara, I have channelled RM10,000 in aid from my office and an additional RM5,000 from the Prime Minister’s Office to the four households affected by this tragedy, to ease their burden and help them continue their lives,” Gobind said in a statement on X (formerly Twitter).
He added that he is awaiting full reports from the police and Fire and Rescue Department before deciding on further action. The minister pledged ongoing commitment to assist the victims in rebuilding their lives under the Malaysia MADANI framework.
Photos shared by Gobind show him at the scene, speaking with residents amid the burnt-out terrace houses and walking through the affected area with officials.
The incident has drawn attention to emergency response times, with Gobind reportedly set to probe any delays.
Life News Agency will continue to monitor developments, including the outcome of official investigations.
