KUALA LUMPUR Aug 6, 2026 – In a proud moment for Malaysian music, well-known guitarist Johnboy (real name Errie Naham) has seen his guitar cover of the official Merdeka 2026 theme song Aku Berjanji featured on the official Merdeka360 website.

Aku Berjanji, composed and performed by Faizal Tahir, was selected as the patriotic theme song for National Month in conjunction with Hari Kebangsaan and Hari Malaysia 2026. The song carries messages of unity, loyalty, and love for the nation, and was first performed publicly during the launch of National Month and the Fly the Jalur Gemilang Campaign.
Johnboy is a respected figure in the Malaysian music scene. He currently serves as the lead guitarist for the legendary rock band Damasutra, known for 1990s hits such as Seribu Bayangan, Sufi and Umpama Mimpi Dalam Mimpi. He joined the band in recent years, continuing its rock legacy following the late original guitarist Alok.
In addition to his role with Damasutra, Errie Naham is the Music Director for Life News Agency, where he contributes his musical expertise to the organisation’s content and productions.
His guitar interpretation of Aku Berjanji brings a distinctive rock flavour to the official anthem, offering listeners a fresh instrumental take that captures the spirit of Merdeka.
