KUALA LUMPUR, May 9, 2026 – Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has taken swift disciplinary action against several of its leaders, expelling two Kedah state assemblymen and suspending the memberships of five Members of Parliament (MPs) and two other state assemblymen.
The party’s Disciplinary Board Chairman, Datuk Mohd Radzi Manan, announced that the expulsions of the two Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri (ADUN) took effect immediately on May 8 under Clause 22.5 of the party constitution. The move follows allegations that the leaders violated the party’s constitution and code of ethics.
The expelled assemblymen are:
- Dzowahir Ab Ghani, ADUN for Suka Menanti
- Abdul Razak Khamis, ADUN for Sungai Tiang
In addition, Bersatu suspended the membership of the following five MPs for two party election terms:
- Nordin Ahmad Ismail (Lumut, Perak)
- Datuk Khalib Abdullah (Rompin, Pahang)
- Datuk Seri Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz (Tanah Merah, Kelantan)
- Datuk Rosol Wahid (Hulu Terengganu, Terengganu)
- Datuk Khir Mohd Nor (Ketereh, Kelantan)
Two other Perak ADUNs were also suspended for two terms:
- Ahmad Man (Kuala Sepetang)
- Syed Lukman Hakim Syed Mohd Zain (Chenderoh)
Bersatu’s action is part of a broader internal disciplinary drive. Some reports also indicate the expulsion of Bersatu’s Deputy Youth Chief, Muhammad Faiz Rahmad, alongside warnings issued to three other MPs.
The disciplinary board cited breaches of Fasal 9.1.4 and the party’s code of conduct. Sources link the sanctions to the leaders’ involvement in activities associated with the “Reset” movement led by former Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, amid ongoing factional tensions within the party.
Affected members have the right to appeal within 14 days as per party rules. The expulsions and suspensions do not automatically affect their legislative seats due to Malaysia’s anti-hopping laws, though their status as independents or potential realignments may emerge in coming days.
This latest purge underscores Bersatu’s efforts to enforce discipline following earlier high-profile actions against senior figures earlier in 2026.
The party has not issued further statements at the time of writing.
