SEREMBAN June 12, 2026 – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on Negeri Sembilan voters to renew their mandate for Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the upcoming 16th state election, enabling the coalition to continue governing the state under Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.
Speaking at the launch of PH’s election machinery for the Negeri Sembilan state polls at Karisma Arena on Friday night (June 12, 2026), Anwar stressed that continued PH leadership would secure the state’s future, particularly for workers and small traders.
“I now ask for a mandate for the Pakatan Harapan state government in Negeri Sembilan… with this mandate, Tok Min (Aminuddin Harun) will be appointed as Menteri Besar. Insya-Allah, the future of Negeri Sembilan will be more secure. The future of this state belongs to the workers and small business owners,” he said.
Anwar, who is also PH chairman, highlighted the coalition’s focus on public welfare and strengthening the economy through increased investments. He noted Malaysia’s encouraging investment performance compared to neighbouring countries, with states like Johor and Negeri Sembilan showing rapid growth due to incoming economic activities.
“We govern for the welfare of the people. We want to work as best as we can,” he added.
The Prime Minister also emphasised the importance of political stability through cooperation within the Unity Government, stating that despite political differences, leaders must continue working together out of love for the people.
On the issue of the state’s royal institutions, Anwar clarified that the federal government does not interfere in Negeri Sembilan’s affairs involving the monarchy. He said all matters must be resolved according to the Constitution and existing laws, while respecting the Yang di-Pertuan Besar and Adat Perpatih customs.
“I know some in Negeri Sembilan disagree with my decision. I do not interfere in state matters,” he said, adding that any changes must follow constitutional procedures and warning against politicising the royal institution.
The event was also attended by PH deputy chairman Anthony Loke, PH secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, PKR communications chief and Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, and other top leaders.
The Negeri Sembilan state assembly was dissolved earlier this month, with polling scheduled for August 1, 2026. The snap election follows similar developments in Johor and tests the strength of Anwar’s federal coalition amid ongoing dynamics between PH and BN.
