NSRC Strengthened to Combat Online Fraud, 24/7 Operations Begin July 1

CYBERJAYA, Malaysia, July 24, 2025 – The National Scam Response Centre (NSRC) is undergoing a comprehensive overhaul and has been officially led by the Royal Malaysia Police under the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) since July 1, in line with the MADANI Government’s commitment to tackling online fraud more efficiently and comprehensively.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail visited the NSRC this morning and received a full briefing on the latest measures being implemented, including:

  • 24/7 Operations: NSRC now operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Permanent Location: NSRC will relocate to a permanent facility in Cyberjaya starting September 2025.
  • Additional Staffing: 139 new positions involving various agencies.
  • New Agency Participation: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (through SSM) and the Securities Commission (SC) have joined NSRC’s efforts.
  • Global Cooperation: Expanded collaboration with domestic and international agencies.
  • Advanced Technology: Adoption of AI, real-time monitoring, and data analytics to enhance efficiency.

Since its inception, NSRC has received over 233,000 calls and successfully prevented fraudulent transactions worth more than RM72 million, demonstrating the effectiveness of inter-agency collaboration.

“The safety of the public is our priority. KDN is committed to continuously improving NSRC through increased staffing, legislative reforms, and public awareness programs,” Saifuddin emphasized.

The public is urged to immediately contact the NSRC hotline at 997 if they fall victim to online scams for swift action.
