GETAFE, November 5, 2026 – Malick Yalcouye’s second-half header gave Brighton & Hove Albion a 1-0 win over Getafe at the Estadio Coliseum on Thursday, keeping Fabian Hurzeler’s side unbeaten in the UEFA Conference League.
The Premier League highlighted the result on its official X account, saying Yalcouye’s goal “secures a 1-0 win for Brighton against Getafe in the Conference League”.
The breakthrough came in the 64th minute. Full-back Costinha cushioned a header back across the face of goal and Yalcouye met it with a header that went in off the crossbar, according to UEFA and Sky Sports.
Brighton had come close earlier through Jaouen Hadjam, who hit the woodwork twice: his first-half effort was turned onto the post by Getafe goalkeeper David Soria, and he curled another shot onto the bar early in the second half. At the other end, Bart Verbruggen made important saves to deny Getafe forward Iván Azón.
The victory lifted Brighton to fifth in the league phase standings with seven points from three matches, and they remain the only side yet to concede in the competition, ESPN reported. The club said it was their fifth consecutive clean sheet in this season’s tournament. It was Yalcouye’s fourth goal of the season.
Hurzeler made five changes from the side that won 1-0 at Manchester City at the weekend. “It’s what we expected,” he told the club’s website. “These games in the Conference League are different. You have to beat the low block… We didn’t play our best game, to be fair… but in the end we kept a clean sheet and then we scored the goal and I think we deserved to win this game.”
The match was Brighton’s first competitive fixture in Spain. With the stadium undergoing renovation, only around 570 Brighton supporters were able to attend, according to the PA report carried by ESPN.
Brighton return to Conference League action with three league-phase matches remaining.
