JASIN, November 4, 2026 – Pakatan Harapan’s candidate for Rim, Esma Eazreen Husin, has pledged to resolve water-supply problems in several parts of the constituency if voters give her the mandate in the 16th Melaka state election.
Speaking to Bernama during a campaign visit in Kelubi, Esma said Kampung Seri Kesang and Felda Kemendor were among areas facing long-standing water issues. “When we go to the ground, several problems are raised from meetings with the community. Among them is the water-supply issue, which is very critical and needs serious attention,” she said, according to Bernama’s report published on November 4, 2026.
She said water supply was one of six pillars in her offer to Rim voters, covering welfare, housing, women’s development, education, youth careers, and the well-being of senior citizens and mobility facilities. Those pillars are her campaign platform as reported by Bernama and have not been independently verified by Life News Agency.
Welfare hub and housing pledges
Under that platform, Esma said she proposed creating a People’s Welfare and Service Hub as a community reference centre and a Welfare Equipment Bank for items such as wheelchairs and hospital beds for those in need. She also said affordable housing for second-generation Felda settlers and young families, plus skills training, jobs and entrepreneurship for women and youth, would be priorities.
On education, she said she wanted to expand access through community tuition, technical and vocational education and training (TVET) and lifelong learning. For older residents, she said she would work to improve mobility, including public transport access, pedestrian paths and facilities friendly to senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
Esma, who is Melaka PKR women’s vice-chief, said she was born in Simpang Kerayong and had family ties with Felda Kemendor settlers. She also pointed to her earlier involvement helping non-governmental organisations with community and welfare work before entering politics. She said local reception during the campaign so far had been “very good” and that her approach was based on healthy competition and respect for democratic practice.
According to Bernama, Rim is a straight fight between Esma and the Barisan Nasional incumbent, Datuk Khaidirah Abu Zahar. Bernama reported that early voting is on November 10, 2026 and polling day on November 14, 2026.
