The Home Ministry (KDN) has allocated RM14.8 million for 10 development projects in Melaka this year, covering police facilities, rehabilitation institutions and quarters for its personnel, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said.
In a post shared on X on November 4, 2026, Saifuddin said the projects involve four agencies under the ministry, namely the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Malaysian Prison Department, the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) and the Malaysia Volunteers Department (RELA).
Of the total, RM11.84 million goes to the Prison Department, RM1.78 million to PDRM, RM1.08 million to AADK and RM100,000 to RELA, he said. The allocation covers policing facilities, rehabilitation institutions, quarters for personnel, as well as AADK and PUSPEN infrastructure.
An infographic accompanying the post lists the types of projects involved. They include the construction of a district police headquarters (IPD), police stations and support facilities for PDRM operations; quarters, an academic block and facilities at Sekolah Henry Gurney and prisons; quarters for KDN personnel; and quarters for AADK and PUSPEN to strengthen drug prevention and rehabilitation programmes.
Saifuddin said security and the well-being of the people could not be separated, as a state could only develop well when communities lived in a safe environment, security institutions worked effectively and the welfare of the personnel who kept the peace was looked after. For that reason, he said, development could not be measured by economic growth alone, but must also take into account the government’s ability to provide quality services, adequate facilities and protection for the people.
“However, behind these figures and projects, there is a bigger benefit,” he wrote. He said better police stations and operational facilities would help strengthen PDRM’s ability to keep communities safe, while better-equipped rehabilitation institutions would support efforts to guide those in rehabilitation back to productive lives. The provision of quarters, he added, gave attention to the comfort of personnel and their families, supporting stability and effectiveness in their postings.
“This is the true meaning of development, when allocations are translated into facilities, and facilities bring benefits to the people and to the personnel who serve,” he said.
Saifuddin also linked the allocation to the Melaka state election campaign. He said that at the recent launch of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) Operations Room for the Melaka election, he had highlighted four principles underpinning the MADANI Government’s administration at the federal level that the coalition was offering to the people of Melaka: political stability, economic prosperity, the welfare of the people and good governance.
He said the four principles were not merely policy ideas but carried a responsibility to ensure that development was well planned, allocations were prudently managed and every project ultimately benefited the community. The ministry’s 2026 development allocation for Melaka, he said, was one example of federal government efforts in line with that approach.
“Because in the end, an administration’s commitment must be judged by actions and results that the people can feel. Security strengthened, welfare empowered, for a Melaka that is safer, more prosperous and continues to develop,” he said.
