SEPANG, November 3, 2026 – Thirty local hawkers were able to trade at the Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP) 2026 without paying any site rent under an initiative by the Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development (KUSKOP), recording more than RM200,000 in sales over the three days of the event.
In a media statement shared on its official X account, KUSKOP said its Litar Rasa MADANI programme, held for three days at the K2 Hillstand area of the Sepang International Circuit, recorded sales of RM207,000 and drew more than 10,000 visitors.
The ministry said commercial site rents at the event could reach as much as RM3,000. However, none of the 30 hawkers who took part in Litar Rasa MADANI was charged any site rent.
Tents, uniforms and equipment provided
KUSKOP said it covered the full cost of the site rent and also provided tents, shirts, aprons, tables and chairs to help reduce the traders’ cost of taking part. The 30 hawkers only needed to pay RM180 for a business licence from the local authority, the statement said.
Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong said that after the success of Litar Rasa MADANI during a Formula One (F1) race in early October, KUSKOP decided to bring the same initiative to MotoGP to give more hawkers and small traders the chance to do business at international sporting events.
“Major events such as MotoGP certainly attract many visitors and offer good sales opportunities. However, high site rental and logistics costs often cause small hawkers to miss out on the chance to trade at big events like this,” he said (translated from Malay).
He said that through Litar Rasa MADANI, the hawkers did not have to spend large sums on renting a site and providing business facilities.
“They can use their existing capital to prepare their stock and take the opportunity to earn income from MotoGP visitors,” he said (translated from Malay).
Affordable tickets for MyKad holders
Apart from opening up business opportunities for hawkers, the MADANI Government also offered Tiket MADANI at RM49.90 to MyKad holders to watch the MotoGP race from the K2 Hillstand, allowing more Malaysians to enjoy an international sporting event at a reasonable price, the ministry said.
MotoGP Malaysia 2026 was held from October 30 to November 1 at the Sepang International Circuit, with a total attendance of more than 196,000 spectators across the three race days, according to the statement.
The statement, numbered 95/2026 and issued by KUSKOP’s Corporate Communications Unit, ended with the ministry’s slogan “Hebatkan Perniagaan Malaysia!” (Make Malaysian Businesses Great!).
Small traders at big events
Big international events such as MotoGP bring tens of thousands of visitors to one place over a few days, but the cost of a stall can be out of reach for small food sellers. By removing the rent and supplying the basic equipment, the ministry’s approach lets hawkers keep more of what they earn and gives them exposure to a much larger crowd than they would normally serve.
KUSKOP had earlier said on X that Litar Rasa MADANI returned for MotoGP following a strong response at the F1 Bahrain Grand Prix, and it shared photos of visitors and traders at the K2 Hillstand during the race weekend.
KUSKOP has used the Hebatkan Perniagaan Malaysia campaign to promote local entrepreneurs and small businesses, and the Litar Rasa MADANI model has now been used at two international motorsport events within a month.
