SEPANG, October 4, 2026 — Formula 1 marked its return to Sepang International Circuit after a nine-year absence, unveiling a fresh track map as the Bahrain Grand Prix weekend unfolds in Malaysia.
“New (track) map unlocked,” the official Formula 1 account posted on X, noting it has been nine years since the championship last raced at Sepang — before more than half of the current drivers were even on the Formula 1 grid.
The reminder underscores how much the driver lineup has turned over since F1’s previous Malaysian visit, with a new generation of racers experiencing the 5.543-kilometre Sepang layout for the first time in championship competition.
The return forms part of the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix weekend staged at Sepang, bringing grand prix racing back to Malaysian soil after nearly a decade away.
