Putrajaya, Aug. 3: Dr. Waleed Khalifa Al Manea, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Malaysia, affirmed the close and longstanding relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Malaysia, under the patronage and support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, King of Malaysia. He highlighted the shared commitment of both countries to further strengthening bilateral cooperation and coordination across a wide range of fields.
The ambassador also highlighted the continued efforts of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, and His Excellency Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, to deepen bilateral cooperation and expand its various dimensions for the mutual benefit of both countries and their peoples. In this regard, he referred to Malaysia’s hosting of the 2026 Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix as an advanced expression of the growing strategic partnership between the two nations.
The remarks were delivered during a lecture at the National Resilience College, part of the Malaysian National Defence Studies Centre in Putrajaya, titled “The Evolving Security Landscape in the Middle East: Bahrain’s Vision for Regional Stability, Diplomacy and Collective Security,” as part of the College’s Executive Week Programme.
The lecture was attended by Major General Dr. Abdul Karim bin Ahmad, Commandant of the National Resilience College; Major General Dato’ Abdul Rahim Yusuf, Head of Academics; members of the Senior Directing Staff; participants of the Executive Week Programme; senior officers and officials from the Malaysian Armed Forces, the Royal Malaysia Police, and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency; representatives of the Ministries of Home Affairs, Foreign Affairs, Investment, Trade and Industry, and Communications; members of the Malaysian Parliament; military academics; and experts in defence, security, and strategic affairs.
During the lecture, Ambassador Al Manea outlined Bahrain’s approach to strengthening regional security, diplomacy, and collective action in addressing the current challenges facing the Middle East and the Gulf region.
He stressed that the Kingdom pursues a comprehensive approach that combines the defence of sovereignty, the protection of civilians, the documentation of facts, and the advancement of diplomacy and collective coordination. He reviewed Iran’s attacks against the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), including the targeting of civilians, vital infrastructure, and the security of maritime navigation routes, as well as the regional and global repercussions of these tensions, particularly on Malaysia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The ambassador also highlighted the Royal Order establishing the National Committee for Documenting the “Epic of National Resilience,” noting that Bahrain had submitted 13 national letters and nine joint letters with the GCC member states and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the United Nations.
He further noted that, during Bahrain’s presidency of the United Nations Security Council in April, the Kingdom worked to advance international efforts aimed at safeguarding maritime routes, ensuring freedom of navigation, and protecting critical infrastructure. He also commended Malaysia’s co-sponsorship of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, which reaffirmed the sovereignty of the affected states, underscored the protection of civilians, and called for an end to the attacks.
