PORT DICKSON, July 24, 2026 — Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim today visited the Army Basic Training Centre (PUSASDA) in Port Dickson, where he met members of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening national defence and improving the welfare of service personnel.
In a post on X, Anwar said he returned to Port Dickson not merely for a meeting but to express appreciation to ATM members who “every day carry the heavy responsibility of defending the sovereignty, security and prosperity of the nation.”
He highlighted that the MADANI government continues to enhance defence readiness by improving assets and capabilities while prioritising the welfare, facilities and needs of personnel and their families.
A key announcement was the highest-ever allocation for the Ministry of Defence in the MADANI Budget. The ministry will receive RM21.7 billion for 2026, a significant increase of about 35 percent from the RM16.1 billion allocated in 2022.
Anwar said the higher funding reflects the government’s determination to modernise military assets and improve the well-being of all ATM members.
In conjunction with Warriors’ Day (Hari Pahlawan) on 31 July, the government has also approved an additional RM2 million contribution to the Warriors’ Day Fund as a mark of appreciation for the service and sacrifices of soldiers and veterans who have defended the nation’s sovereignty.
“I pray that all ATM members continue to be given strength in carrying out this noble trust. God willing, the government will continue to stand with you in ensuring the welfare, well-being and needs of your families remain a priority,” Anwar said.
Photos released from the visit showed the Prime Minister interacting with troops, addressing personnel, and mingling with soldiers at the training centre, which carries the motto “Tempat Lahirnya Pahlawan” (The Birthplace of Heroes).
