NABATIEH, LEBANON June 13, 2026 — Explosions rocked southern Lebanon on Saturday, June 13, 2026, as Israeli forces carried out airstrikes and artillery attacks near the city of Nabatieh, according to Lebanese officials and media reports.
The strikes occurred despite U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement that a deal with Iran — expected to cover “all fronts, including Lebanon” — would be signed on Sunday.
Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported Israeli airstrikes on areas including the villages of Rihan and Sujud, close to Nabatieh, shortly after the Israeli military issued evacuation warnings for more than 20 locations in the region.
Video footage from the area, shared by Al Jazeera, showed massive plumes of dark smoke billowing over residential buildings and hillsides in Nabatieh following the blasts.
The attacks come as part of ongoing Israeli operations in southern Lebanon, which have continued despite a fragile U.S.-brokered ceasefire and diplomatic efforts involving Iran and its allies. Iranian media had indicated the emerging agreement would aim to end hostilities across multiple fronts.
No immediate casualty figures were available for Saturday’s strikes in Nabatieh, but recent Israeli operations in the south have killed dozens in the past week, according to Lebanese health and security sources.
Israel has not publicly commented on the latest strikes in relation to the Iran deal. The situation remains fluid as regional diplomats monitor developments ahead of the anticipated signing.
