KOTA KINABALU, June 13, 2026 — Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim today emphasised the pivotal contributions of women as the backbone of families, communities, and the nation during the “Melangkah Bersama MADANI: Wanita Beriman, Wanita Bertahan” programme held at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) here.
Speaking to a large gathering of women from across Sabah, Anwar expressed his appreciation for their resilience and central role in fostering knowledgeable, morally upright, and resilient generations in line with the Malaysia MADANI vision.
“Women cannot be sidelined in the national development agenda because they are among the main pillars in producing a generation that is knowledgeable, moral, resilient, and possesses high values of compassion to realise the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI,” he said.
Anwar highlighted that every individual faces tests and challenges in life, but with guidance from Allah SWT and lessons drawn from the personalities of the Prophets and righteous people, such trials should be met with wisdom, patience, and steadfastness. He stressed that strength of faith, mastery of knowledge, and moral integrity remain essential in building prosperous families, resilient societies, and a progressive, dignified nation.
The event, part of Anwar’s one-day working visit to Sabah, follows his morning engagement in Sipitang where he launched the Sabah Southern Madani Link power transmission project. Later today, he is scheduled to officiate the 2026 National Unity Week celebration at the Likas Sports Complex.
Photos from the programme show the Prime Minister addressing the audience, interacting warmly with participants, and engaging with children in traditional attire. The gathering aimed to empower women through faith-based and resilience-focused initiatives aligned with MADANI principles.
This Sabah-level programme underscores the government’s commitment to inclusive development, ensuring women play an active role in advancing the nation’s progress.
