PUTRAJAYA June 10, 2026 — Deputy Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today received a courtesy call from 13 newly appointed Malaysian heads of diplomatic missions ahead of their overseas postings.
The diplomats will represent Malaysia in key countries including Japan, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Austria, New Zealand, Laos, Oman, Ireland, Finland, Timor-Leste, Chile, Lebanon, and Uzbekistan.
In a statement shared on his official Facebook page (and X account), Zahid emphasised the significant responsibility these envoys carry in advancing Malaysia’s interests on the global stage.
“Mewakili negara di pentas antarabangsa adalah satu amanah yang besar. Selain memperkukuh hubungan dua hala, mereka juga membawa bersama suara, kepentingan dan imej Malaysia di mata dunia,” he said.
He expressed confidence in their abilities, adding: “Insya-Allah, I believe their experience and expertise will help them discharge these responsibilities with excellence while opening up more opportunities for cooperation that will benefit the country.”
Zahid wished the new heads of mission success in their assignments: “Selamat menjalankan tugas… May their affairs be eased, they be blessed with good health and continue to uphold Malaysia’s good name on the international stage,” under the #MalaysiaMADANI framework.
The courtesy visit took place in a formal setting, with group photographs capturing Zahid addressing and posing alongside the diplomats and accompanying officials.
This engagement underscores the government’s focus on robust diplomatic representation to enhance bilateral relations, economic cooperation, and Malaysia’s international profile.
