MELAKA May 8, 2026 – Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil today presented letters of appointment to six chairpersons of the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI) Advisory Panel for the state of Melaka.
The ceremony was held at NADI Taman Seri Telok Mas and reflects the MADANI Government’s ongoing commitment, through the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), to reinforcing NADI as a vital community hub. The centres aim to narrow the digital, knowledge and socio-economic gaps while ensuring government programmes reach the grassroots more effectively.
The NADI Advisory Panel serves as a key bridge between local communities, leaders and relevant agencies. It helps ensure that initiatives are tailored to specific community needs and that public participation is strengthened.
Melaka currently operates 39 NADI centres, which focus on providing internet access, the Smart NADI Service Programme and the effective dissemination of government information to the public.
Prior to today’s expansion, the NADI Advisory Panel had already been rolled out in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Penang, Terengganu, Negeri Sembilan, Johor and Sabah, where 114 chairpersons have been appointed.
The role of NADI received further international recognition when it was designated a Digital Transformation Centre (DTC) by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) on 25 April 2026, highlighting the significant impact of its community-level efforts.
At the same event, Datuk Fahmi officially opened the NADI Taman Seri Telok Mas centre and handed over 25 electronic devices to p-hailing drivers. The devices are intended to support greater adoption of digital technology to enhance their livelihoods and income-generating activities.
Also present were Deputy Minister of Higher Education YB Adam Adli Abd Halim, Deputy Secretary-General (Strategic Communication and Creative Industries) of the Ministry of Communications Nik Kamaruzaman Nik Husin, and MCMC Chief Executive Officer Abdul Karim Fakir Ali.
The initiative was issued by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
