KUANTAN, PAHANG April 12, 2026 – Datuk Seri Utama Tengku Zafrul Tengku Aziz, a member of the PKR Political Bureau, has called on party branches in Pahang to intensify their work and adopt a new approach as the nation heads towards the 16th General Election (PRU16).
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) following the full-house Annual General Meeting (AGM) of PKR Pahang branches held tonight, Tengku Zafrul described the gathering as more than a routine meeting — it served as a critical reminder that time is running out.
“The hall was packed at the Annual General Meeting of PKR Pahang Branches. But what is more important is the awareness we shared tonight,” he wrote.
He stressed that this is no longer a time for casual discussions.
“This is not a night for idle chatter. We have entered the critical phase towards PRU16,” Tengku Zafrul said.
Highlighting PKR’s new role as part of the ruling government rather than the opposition, he urged a fundamental change in the party’s working style, campaigning methods, and communication strategies.
“It is no longer enough to rely on ceramah (public rallies) and social media alone. We must go down to the ground (turun padang), meet the people, and build trust from the grassroots,” he emphasised.
At the same time, he reminded members not to abandon the party’s strengths.
“We must return to being aggressive on social media — respond to issues, shape the narrative, and defend the party,” Tengku Zafrul added.
He identified party unity as the most crucial element.
“And most importantly, do not split. If we ourselves are not strong as one team, the rakyat will not trust us to manage the country,” he warned.
Tengku Zafrul concluded that the meeting was a timely wake-up call.
“Tonight is not just a meeting. It is a reminder that time is getting shorter, and our work must be doubled,” he said.
The event, which featured energetic speeches and group photographs of enthusiastic PKR Pahang members, was held under the theme of strengthening the party’s grassroots machinery in the state.
Tengku Zafrul, who also serves as Chairman of the Malaysia Investment Development Authority (MIDA), has been actively involved in PKR’s efforts to consolidate support ahead of the next general election.
