ABU DHABI, UAE February 28, 2026 – The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced today that its air defense systems have successfully intercepted and destroyed a new wave of Iranian missiles launched toward the country.
According to the official statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the operation was carried out “with high efficiency and without any damage.” The MoD stressed its full readiness to confront any threats and reaffirmed that the safety of citizens, residents, and visitors remains the top priority.
Debris from the intercepted missiles fell in several areas of Abu Dhabi, including Saadiyat Island, Khalifa City, Baniyas Area, Mohammed Bin Zayed City, and Al Falah. No injuries were reported.
The Ministry described the missile attack as “a blatant violation of national sovereignty and international law” and said the UAE reserves the full right to take all necessary measures to protect its territory and people.
The MoD also urged the public to rely only on official sources for information and to avoid spreading rumors or unverified news.
This latest interception comes amid heightened regional tensions. Iran has launched retaliatory missile strikes against several Gulf states hosting U.S. military facilities following reported U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iranian targets earlier today. Other countries in the region, including Kuwait, Qatar, and Jordan, also reported successful interceptions of incoming missiles.
The UAE Ministry of Defence continues to monitor the situation and has confirmed that all necessary security measures are in place.
