200 Health Personnel Mobilized for ASEAN Summit Medical Preparedness

KUALA LUMPUR, May 23, 2025 — The Ministry of Health (MOH) has deployed nearly 200 healthcare personnel to ensure robust medical support for the 46th ASEAN Summit and related events in Kuala Lumpur, covering medical facilities, emergency response, and food safety.

Dr. Nor’Aishah Abu Bakar, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya state health director, detailed the setup, which includes four medical rooms at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), the summit’s primary venue, with one dedicated exclusively to heads of state.

“Medical rooms are also operational at official delegation hotels to provide prompt care outside conference hours,” she told Bernama today.

The health teams, comprising emergency and trauma specialists, medical officers, and trained paramedics, are stationed at KLCC, hotels, and Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) for rapid response to emergencies. Four ambulances will remain on standby at KLCC to facilitate swift hospital transfers if needed.

“Dedicated medical teams will also accompany each head of state to ensure immediate assistance,” Dr. Nor’Aishah added.

Beyond medical care, MOH is overseeing food safety through engagement with hotels, monitoring, and meal sampling to guarantee quality for delegates. The 46th ASEAN Summit, themed “Inclusivity and Sustainability,” runs from May 23-27 at KLCC.
