KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia June 23, 2025 – This morning, I chaired the 3rd National Digital Economy and Fourth Industrial Revolution Council (MED4IRN) Meeting of 2025, a crucial platform to assess progress and chart new directions for the nation’s digital economy.

Among the matters presented was the implementation of GovTech Malaysia, including the MyGOV Malaysia application, which serves as the government’s single digital gateway. Through this platform, citizens can interact with various government agencies online without waiting at counters. This reflects the Government’s commitment to delivering accessible, efficient, and transparent services to the public.
We also agreed to elevate Transitioning Industrial Clusters (TIC) as a national agenda, a strategic move to unite companies and public institutions to drive green economic growth, create high-skilled job opportunities, and reduce carbon emissions.
I was particularly impressed by the presentation on Sarawak’s ambition to develop TIC in Bintulu. Its potential contribution is significant: an additional RM12 billion to GDP, 19,000 new jobs, and a reduction of 21.35 million tonnes of carbon emissions by 2040. This initiative aligns with Sarawak’s zero-carbon aspiration and strengthens its position as a leader in the nation’s green industry.
During the discussions, I emphasized the importance of expanding the implementation of MyDigital ID to the private sector. We must build a secure, comprehensive, and trusted digital ecosystem, not only for government transactions but also for the daily lives of citizens and future business activities.
