KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA January 14. 2026 – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim today attended the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) General Assembly and delivered a message emphasising the importance of political maturity and national unity amid growing challenges.
In a post on X accompanied by a photograph of himself surrounded by UMNO leaders and delegates, Anwar extended his warm wishes to all party leaders and representatives gathered for the annual assembly.
“True strength does not emerge from continuously stoking differences, but from fortified unity, celebrated wisdom, and a collective commitment to place the interests of the people and the nation above all else,” he wrote.
He stressed that Malaysia needs mature politics grounded in consensus, mutual respect, and the ability to collaborate for the sake of stability, prosperity, and a more just and inclusive future for all citizens.
Anwar expressed hope that the assembly would proceed in an orderly manner, featuring meaningful discussions centred on the people, while contributing to stronger national unity in pursuit of a civilised Malaysia (Malaysia MADANI).
The Prime Minister’s presence at the UMNO assembly, where he was seen wearing light blue traditional attire among leaders predominantly dressed in red — UMNO’s party colour — highlights ongoing cooperation within the unity government. UMNO and Anwar’s Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) are key partners in the current federal administration.
The assembly comes at a time of evolving political and economic dynamics, with Anwar’s message underscoring the need for cross-party solidarity to address national priorities.
