DAMASCUS, SYRIA January 10, 2026 – The United States military has carried out airstrikes targeting Islamic State (ISIS) positions in Syria, multiple sources confirmed on Saturday.
U.S. officials told Fox News that the strikes hit ISIS facilities across the country as part of continued operations to degrade the terrorist group. Bloomberg reported that missiles were launched against multiple targets, building on recent actions following threats to American forces.
A video widely shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) appears to show elements of these operations. Posted by the account @BRICSinfo with the caption “JUST IN: 🇺🇸 Video shows US forces conducting airstrikes against ISIS in Syria,” the 42-second clip has garnered thousands of views.
The footage begins with nighttime scenes at a U.S. airbase, featuring fighter jets — including F-15 Eagles and A-10 Thunderbolt II “Warthog” aircraft — taxiing and preparing for takeoff under runway lights. It then transitions to declassified, unclassified infrared footage showing precision-guided munitions being released, followed by multiple explosions on ground targets consistent with airstrike impacts.
The strikes underscore Washington’s ongoing commitment to countering ISIS remnants in Syria, where the group continues to operate despite losing its territorial caliphate years ago. No official statement from U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) was immediately available on the latest operations, but similar actions in late 2025 targeted over 70 ISIS sites in retaliation for attacks on U.S. personnel.
The U.S. maintains a limited troop presence in Syria, primarily to support local partner forces in preventing an ISIS resurgence.
