PUTRAJAYA. MALAYSIA December 31, 2025 – Transport Minister Loke Siew Fook (Anthony Loke), who is also the Secretary-General of the Democratic Action Party (DAP), issued his 2026 New Year message emphasizing the need for more responsible politics that focuses on solving the people’s problems, rather than sparking divisions for self-interest.
In the message, Loke stated that the New Year celebration is not just about closing the old chapter, but an opportunity to evaluate the direction of oneself and the nation. He stressed that Malaysia cannot return to old practices that erode public trust and hinder national progress.
“Malaysia cannot return to old practices that erode public trust and hinder national progress,” said Loke, adding that the government understands the cost-of-living pressures faced by the people and the increasing business costs burdening the business community.
He promised that the government will continue to work hard to alleviate these burdens through practical policies and effective implementation. As a member of the Federal Government administration, Loke emphasized the trust to serve honestly, make decisions for public interest, and ensure economic growth translates into public welfare and a sustainable business environment.
As DAP Secretary-General, Loke pledged that the party will continue to uphold principles in fighting for a nation guided by democratic, fair, and inclusive values, where every Malaysian has the opportunity to succeed and development benefits are shared collectively.
He added that good governance, integrity, and policies based on the real needs of the people are the foundation for a stronger national future. “Progress is not built on political rhetoric; it must be based on integrity, accountability, and real results that the people can feel,” he said.
Loke also touched on differences of opinion as part of democracy, but they should not hinder cooperation for the nation’s interest. Politics should be a tool to improve people’s lives, not a field for quarreling.
Ahead of the New Year, he renewed the commitment to work hard, make bolder changes, and play a consistent role in championing justice, freedom, and progress for all Malaysians.
The message concluded with New Year greetings, hoping that 2026 brings new hope and confidence in building a better Malaysia.
This message was issued amid the country’s economic challenges, where the Madani government under Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim continues to emphasize reforms to address cost-of-living issues and economic growth.
