KDN Secretary General Officiates AI Transformation in Security Symposium 2025: “AI Drives a New Era of National Security”

PUTRAJAYA, MALAYSIA Nov 12, 2025 – In efforts to accelerate the digital transformation of the national security sector, Datuk Dr. Awang Alik Jeman, Secretary General of the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN), today officiated the Artificial Intelligence Transformation in Security Symposium 2025, themed “AI: Driving Transformation in Security and Safety”. The event, held in the administrative capital of Putrajaya, serves as a primary platform for experts and industry players to discuss the revolutionary potential of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in strengthening Malaysia’s security ecosystem.

The symposium successfully gathered over 1,000 participants from diverse backgrounds, including representatives from ministries, law enforcement agencies, institutions of higher learning, and key industry players. It not only acts as a strategic forum to dissect the challenges and opportunities of AI but also opens avenues for collaboration to shape the direction of safe and resilient technology development.

In his opening speech, Dr. Awang Alik emphasized that 2025 marks a crucial turning point for KDN through the ‘AI for KDN, KDN for AI’ agenda. “This agenda aims to strengthen law enforcement, enhance operational efficiency, and elevate the quality of services to the public,” he said. He added that the success of AI integration in security depends on three key elements: appropriate technology, high-quality data, and highly skilled human resources.

He also unveiled several successful AI initiatives implemented under KDN, including the National Registration Department (JPN) and Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Chatbots, the Parliament AI System, iTAQ Smart Quran Verification, as well as the development of the KDN Data Science Center and AI Cloud. These initiatives not only bolster the ministry’s data analytics capabilities but also facilitate faster and more efficient access to public services.

The full-day symposium features four main discussion clusters: detection and mitigation of security risks, smart border management, overall digital transformation, and the role of AI in public service delivery. In addition, participants are treated to exhibitions of the latest industry technologies and presentations from local experts, aimed at building a mature, integrated, and secure AI ecosystem.

KDN reaffirms its ongoing commitment to positioning AI as the primary driver of national security transformation, in line with the Malaysia MADANI aspirations that emphasize an efficient, integrated, and people-centric security system. Among the key attendees were Ainah binti Mohd Soon, Secretary of the KDN Strategic Planning Division, and Faizah binti Jaarudin, Executive Director of the Malaysian Assessment and Support Institute (IPSOM), along with KDN’s top management.

This symposium is expected to catalyze further AI initiatives, ensuring Malaysia remains at the forefront in leveraging technology for national security and public well-being.
