KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Sept 4, 2025 – Malaysia will take on a pivotal role as host of the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime (AMMTC) from September 8 to 12, 2025, as announced by Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail. The event, held under Malaysia’s chairmanship of ASEAN this year, underscores the nation’s commitment to fostering regional security and cooperation.

The AMMTC is more than a series of meetings; it is a strategic platform that brings together ASEAN ministers responsible for national security to address the growing complexity of transnational crimes. These include human trafficking, migrant smuggling, terrorism, extremism, narcotics, cybercrime, and money laundering.
“Public safety and regional stability cannot be shouldered by one nation alone. It demands the collective commitment of all ASEAN members,” Saifuddin said. As host, Malaysia aims to demonstrate leadership in strengthening regional collaboration while ensuring the voices and interests of its people are represented in ASEAN’s security agenda.
Since its inception in 1997, the AMMTC has been a cornerstone of ASEAN’s efforts to combat cross-border crime. This year, under the theme “Inclusivity and Sustainability,” Malaysia is determined to deliver discussions that are not only relevant but also impactful for the well-being and security of the region’s citizens.
The Home Minister emphasized that the AMMTC serves as a vital platform to achieve ASEAN’s shared goals of security and prosperity through consistent, collective commitment.
