JELEBU July 24, 2026 – Deputy Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi on Friday expressed confidence that the people of Chennah want change that will bring progress to the constituency, citing strong multi-ethnic and multi-generational support at a campaign event.
In a post on his official X account, Zahid, who is also Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman and UMNO president, described the atmosphere at the DUN Chennah gathering as “inspiring.”
“The presence of the community from various races and age groups gives confidence that more and more people want change that can bring progress to this area,” he wrote.
He said Chennah has great potential to continue developing and therefore needs leadership that is ready to work hard, go to the ground and always prioritise the people’s interests.
Zahid voiced full confidence in BN candidate John Siow (also known as Siow Kong Choon), the MCA Negeri Sembilan Youth chief, to carry out that mandate.
“Insya-Allah, I am confident that brother John Seow has the determination and commitment to shoulder that trust. With the solid support of the people, more development, economic opportunities and facilities can be brought for a better future for DUN Chennah,” he said.
He expressed hope that the spirit shown at the event would translate into votes on polling day.
“Chennah we protect, Negeri Sembilan we advance together,” Zahid added, using BN campaign hashtags.
The visit forms part of BN’s intensive campaign in the Negeri Sembilan state election. Siow is contesting against incumbent Anthony Loke, the DAP secretary-general and Transport Minister, who has held the seat since 2013.
Polling day is scheduled for 1 August, with early voting on 28 July.
