UNITED NATION Oct 10, 2026 – United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has strongly condemned the attack on Saudi Arabia’s King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which killed 12 people and injured 309 others on Saturday.
Guterres said he was “deeply shocked” by the strike, which he attributed to Yemen’s Houthis, and stated that attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure violate international law. He called for the attacks to cease immediately.
Saudi civil aviation authorities reported that the dead included four Saudi citizens and eight foreign nationals from Bangladesh, the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine, and Sudan. Some of the injured were in critical condition. Airport operations were suspended after the strike on a passenger terminal.
The Saudi-led coalition described the attack as a “full-fledged war crime” and vowed a firm response. The incident follows multiple Houthi strikes on Saudi airports earlier in the week that also caused civilian casualties, amid intensified fighting in Yemen between Houthi forces and Saudi-backed government troops.
