MELAKA, April 17, 2026 – A massive “sea of red” engulfed the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) today as Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi officiated the simultaneous inauguration of the UMNO Melaka State Branch Conferences 2026.
In a powerful show of solidarity, thousands of UMNO representatives from every branch across the state gathered with one clear resolve, one spirit, and one mission. The event marked the official start of what UMNO Melaka has dubbed the “Gelombang Baharu” (New Wave) as the party prepares for the political battles ahead.
Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also UMNO President and BN Chairman, expressed strong confidence in the state chapter’s readiness. “MITC today witnessed an extraordinary sea of red… a gathering of UMNO delegates from all over Melaka with one resolve, one spirit, and one struggle!” he said.
He added that the fiery atmosphere reflected the full preparedness of the party machinery — from top leadership to grassroots members — to face new challenges and win the hearts of the people.
“We are aware that today’s challenges are not the same as before. We must go out and capture the hearts of the rakyat, approach them with sincerity and prove that this struggle is truly for the future of Melaka,” Dr Zahid stated.
Highlighting the importance of unity, he stressed: “In politics, firmness requires courage. We choose to stand with our own strength and this choice will only succeed if we continue to close ranks and move as one team.”
The Deputy Prime Minister concluded on an optimistic note, saying the strong spirit displayed today gives every assurance that UMNO Melaka will not only defend its existing victories but will script even greater successes for the people and the future of the state.
The hall was filled with enthusiastic party members dressed in signature red UMNO attire, many raising their fists in unison during the ceremony. Large banners and a giant portrait of Dr Zahid dominated the stage, reinforcing the message of strong leadership and collective determination.
The event is seen as a significant early mobilisation effort by UMNO Melaka as the party gears up for the coming years with renewed energy and unity under the slogan #BersatuBersetiaBerkhidmat (United, Loyal, Serving).
