KUALA LUMPUR, May 6, 2026 – The Leadership Consultative Council of the Unity Government between UMNO and Pakatan Harapan has reached a consensus to maintain cooperation in Negeri Sembilan in order to ensure the stability of the state and the well-being of the people.
The decision was made during a meeting co-chaired by Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim and UMNO President Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi on May 5, 2026.
According to the joint media statement issued after the meeting, the consultative council respects the positions that have been decided by both respective Political Bureaus concerning issues in Negeri Sembilan.
“The UMNO-Pakatan Harapan Leadership Consultative Council has reached a consensus to maintain the Unity Government cooperation in Negeri Sembilan for the stability of the state and the well-being of the people,” the statement said.
The council also agreed that any decisions made by the Negeri Sembilan State Government that could trigger any form of sensitivity or create room for disputes must be immediately referred to the UMNO-Pakatan Harapan Leadership Consultative Council.
The media statement was signed by Pakatan Harapan Secretary-General Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and UMNO Secretary-General Datuk Wira Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.
This decision is expected to strengthen political stability at the state level following the emergence of various issues involving the Negeri Sembilan State Government recently.
