A World Health Organization (WHO) humanitarian warehouse in Dnipro, Ukraine, was destroyed in a strike that Ukrainian officials and multiple international reports attribute to Russian forces. The facility held emergency medical supplies intended for health facilities near the front lines.
According to WHO, the warehouse was hit on August 7, 2026. Staff and drivers had been on site earlier that day evacuating supplies and managed to move 130 of approximately 300 pallets before leaving. The remaining stock—estimated to be worth around $500,000 and consisting primarily of emergency health supplies—was destroyed. No casualties were reported.
WHO Regional Director for Europe Dr. Hans Henri P. Kluge said the warehouse “held supplies that were intended to keep life-saving services available on the frontline.” Its destruction, he added, means “less medicine, less equipment, and less capacity to treat the sick and wounded.” WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus also condemned the attack, stating that “attacks on health care MUST STOP” and emphasizing that “even wars have rules.”
Ukrainian sources and several international outlets described the strike as Russian. The incident forms part of a broader pattern documented by WHO: more than 3,000 attacks on healthcare facilities in Ukraine have been verified since the full-scale invasion began in 2022.
The destruction of the Dnipro warehouse reduces the immediate availability of critical medical aid for frontline areas. WHO said it is still assessing the full extent of the damage.
