TEHRAN, November 6, 2026 — Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency said initial reports indicated two missiles had struck Qeshm Island, with no official confirmation yet on damage, Reuters reported.
In a post on X, Reuters cited Tasnim as saying on Saturday that two missiles struck the Gulf island and that there was still no official information on possible damage. Iran International and the Straits Times similarly quoted Tasnim’s initial account, with some local reports placing the impacts near the Suza area and citing witnesses who heard projectiles and saw aircraft overhead.
Qeshm, Iran’s largest island in the Strait of Hormuz approaches, has been drawn into the wider US–Iran confrontation this month. Reuters and Al Jazeera reported earlier that US forces carried out what Washington called defensive strikes on Qeshm around November 2–3 after Iranian forces fired at US aircraft. Friday–Saturday’s Tasnim report of fresh missile impacts has not yet been matched by a detailed Iranian military statement in the open sources reviewed for this article.
Neither Tasnim’s initial dispatch, as relayed by Reuters, nor secondary summaries identified who fired the missiles or what was hit. In the fog of the current conflict, claims from Iranian semi-official media, US officials and regional monitors often diverge and require caution.
Shipping and energy markets watch any strike activity near the Strait of Hormuz because even limited incidents can raise insurance costs and fear of a wider disruption to oil flows. Qeshm hosts civilian communities as well as military and industrial sites, so casualty and damage assessments matter beyond the strategic narrative.
Iranian authorities have not, at the time of the Reuters alert, issued a full damage bulletin matching Tasnim’s “two missiles” line. US officials had previously described their own earlier Qeshm strikes as defensive responses rather than a campaign to seize territory.
Independent verification of Saturday’s reported impacts remained limited in the first hours after Tasnim’s account. Further Iranian official comment, satellite imagery or US acknowledgment would clarify whether the event was a new exchange, an errant munition, or a contested local report.
Life News Agency will update if confirmed casualty figures or attributions emerge from authorities on either side.
Qeshm’s location near busy Gulf shipping lanes means even unconfirmed strike reports are closely watched by insurers, tanker operators and energy traders until authorities clarify what happened.
