PUTRAJAYA April 14, 2026 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim yesterday hosted a courtesy visit from the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bank Rakyat to review the bank’s financial performance for 2025 and discuss its strategic direction for the coming year.
In a post on his official X account, the Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the bank’s achievements.
“Alhamdulillah, I record my appreciation for the performance of governance and the financial position of Bank Rakyat which remains strong last year, reflecting high discipline and commitment in managing the trust,” he wrote.
The meeting also focused on strengthening Malaysia’s Islamic banking and finance sector. Anwar Ibrahim stressed that the principles of justice, benevolence (ihsan), and inclusiveness must continue to serve as the foundation for expanding Islamic finance, in line with the government’s MADANI aspirations.
He urged Bank Rakyat to carry out its founding mandate more boldly and visionarily, while actively exploring new opportunities to build a more competitive and sustainable business model that benefits the people and the nation.
The courtesy call underscores the government’s ongoing support for Bank Rakyat as a key player in Malaysia’s Islamic financial services industry. Bank Rakyat, one of the country’s largest Islamic banks, plays a vital role in serving the rakyat through ethical and inclusive financial solutions.
