KAJANG, MALAYSIA January 3, 2026 – Kajang district police are actively pursuing several suspects believed to be involved in an attempted cable theft in the Sg. Lalang area of Semenyih.
According to Kajang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner (ACP) Naazron bin Abdul Yusof, a police report was lodged at approximately 2:08 pm on January 2, 2026, regarding the incident, which is believed to have occurred around 9:30 am the same day.
“Efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend the suspects, who were reportedly using a four-wheeled vehicle and a motorcycle,” ACP Naazron said in an official media statement.
The case is being investigated under Section 379/511 of the Penal Code for attempted theft, which carries a potential penalty of up to seven years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both upon conviction.
Members of the public with any information related to the incident are urged to contact the nearest police station or the investigating officer, Sergeant A/L Amartha Lingam (also known as SJN Vaelmurgan), at 019-611 1660 to assist with the investigation.
Cable theft has been a persistent issue in the region, often targeting infrastructure such as telecommunications or power lines, leading to disruptions and significant financial losses for service providers.
