PUTRAJAYA April 30, 2026 – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim has strongly condemned Israel’s interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 (GSF 2.0) humanitarian mission in international waters, describing the action as a “violent” violation of maritime law that resembles piracy and undermines universal humanitarian principles.
In an official statement posted on X today, Anwar said:
“I condemn the violent actions of the Zionist Israel regime against the Global Sumud Flotilla humanitarian mission in international waters, a clear violation of maritime law and an act resembling piracy that stains the principles of universal humanity.”
He stressed that Malaysia is demanding immediate action to protect all activists on board, including the 10 Malaysian citizens who have been detained and are currently uncontactable.
“Malaysia urges all parties to act immediately and ensure no harsh actions are taken against the activists, including the 10 Malaysian citizens who are currently detained and out of contact. Their safety must be guaranteed without compromise,” Anwar said.
The MADANI government is working closely with friendly nations to secure the swift release of the detained Malaysians.
Anwar, who is also the principal patron of the Sumud Nusantara mission, emphasised that compassion and humanity must prevail in this critical situation.
“In this dire situation, compassion and humanity must overcome all differences, and Malaysia will continue to stand firm in defending these principles,” he added.
He concluded the statement with prayers for the safety of all involved:
“To Allah SWT we surrender, accompanied by comprehensive efforts being mobilised, may they all be safe. The prayers of the entire Malaysian people accompany the Global Sumud Flotilla. Hasbunallahu wa ni‘mal wakil.”
